We have some very exciting news!
Our famous Aireys Fair has been awarded Surfcoast Community Event of the Year!
The annual fair has been running for over 25 years and draws crowds from far and wide to help raise funds for Aireys Inlet Primary School. Many come for the amazing food and the outstanding cake and preserves stall. Others for the rides, music and show bags. But mostly they come to enjoy the atmosphere and community spirit the event provides.
The fair is organised by parent volunteers of the school every year, it’s a big job and the school community is deeply appreciative of the hard work which goes into running such a successful event. The fair day runs beautifully with so many staff and family volunteers contributing time and skills in the days leading up to the event. From preparing food, setting up the venue, working bees and so much more to make this one of the highlights of the year for the school community.
The Australia Day awards are administered by Surf Coast Shire Council on behalf of the National Australia Day Council. Community Event of the Year Awards are presented annually to groups who make an extraordinary contribution to our local community by
- providing a benefit for local people, the local environment, local tourism or local culture
- demonstrating excellence in organising a safe and sustainable event
- involve local people through organising or attending
- reflect the spirit of what makes Surf Coast Shire great.
Thank you to Karen Jaques and Julia Clarke who attended the award ceremony on behalf of the school as the 2019 Fair Organisers.
